He was awarded Fide Master of the FIDE for chess composition in 1992.

He was a police-man by profession. His first problem was published in "Suomen Sosialidemokraatti" in 1950 and the last one posthumously in "The Problemist" in 1986.

His total output was 330 problems of all kinds. Of these 40 were composed jointly.

A composer of the strategis and logical school, he was not so much interested in modern ideas involving cyclic play and paradoxes.

During the years 1958-1972 he was a member of the board of The Finnish Chess Problem Society, acting as secretary in 1958-1962 and 1971-1972. [....]

He was awarded the title of National Master of Chess Composition in 1978.
