Studies composed by

Gerd Rinder

(Germany, 3.7.1935 - 20.1.2022).

He is born in Munich.

He is a known German chess player, successful chess composer of various disciplines

and software developers of the timetable program MOSAIC.

He is the son of the chess player Friedl Rinder, which was five times women champion,

and reached at the Women's World Chess championship in 1939 the fourth place.

Some more information about him on German Wikipedia and Die Schwalbe.

He was helped in chess first of all by his mother, who as a multiple German ladies' champion put the chess DNA into his cradle, so to speak, and the rest he worked out for himself.
In 1954 he became German Youth Champion, after that he was a regular player of his club München 1836 for a long time, with whom he won the German Team Championship four times.
In parallel, he also began composing problems and studies as early as the late 1950s, and along the way he developed into an excellent solver, winning three of the first four German Solving Championships (1977, 1978, and 1980).
He was a founding member of the Munich Problem Circle, to which he not only belonged until the end,
but also did a special service by organizing a permanent meeting place of the mpk in a community senior citizens' center at his place of residence (Haar, just outside Munich).
In the last years it had become a bit quieter around him and he did not come regularly to the monthly meetings of the mpk, but nevertheless he remained active in chess and still showed his latest chess study during his last visit in 2021.
