Moriz Henneberger is born on 16 October in 1878 in Basel, where he worked as a mathematics teacher and where he died on 7 April 1959.
He was a very successful chess player. He won between 1899 and 1914 five times the Swiss Championship and three times of it ex-aequo.
At that time it was customary that top chess players also composed chess problems and endgame studies.
Moriz Henneberger has written and published several books on chess problems.
The first was in 1908, Juchli's Chess problems »- together with Josef Juchli and Alain C. White.
1921 followed by "Alpine Chess" - the most famous work, along with George Hume and Alain C. White, one of the famous «Christmas Series» by White.
From April 1949 to May 1956 he was also problem editor of the «Schweizerische Schachzeitung».
