Johannes (Joop) Fernhout

Mr. Johannes Fernhout was born at Gorinchem in 1920.

During World War II, he worked at the Central Bureau of Statistics and was involved in the resistance.

After he became Master of Law in 1945, he moved to the Dutch Indies and started a great business career.

His most important job was President of AVROS, an organization of agricultural producers in North Sumatra with 250,000 employees.

When he returned to the Netherlands in 1958, his business career contined.

Some of his jobs were Director of a project development and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in the Hague.

Mr. Fernhout was also a strong over - the - board player, who became unofficial champion of the Dutch Indies in 1948.
