Motiefgroep Schaken since 1984.

The Motiefgroep Schaken, founded in 1984, is a Dutch national association whose members are interested in collecting all kinds of chess-related items.

This includes a wide variety of chess objects.
This includes chess stamps, postcards, stamps, first-day covers, chess coins, telephone cards, chess books, paintings, art objects, comics, curiosities, etc.

The main activities that the Chess Motif Group organizes for its members are:

* The magazine "De Schaakkoerier" (The Chess Courier) is published six times a year, including:
- information about new issues, new stamps, postmarks, etc.
- articles about various chess collecting areas, including (stamps featuring) famous chess players, positions, pieces, etc.

Of course, all members can also publish in "De Schaakkoerier" themselves.
Back issues of "De Schaakkoerier" are available at cost price.

* A contact day is held twice a year.
There is a contact day in the spring and another in the fall. These are ideal opportunities to expand your collection, exchange or sell duplicates, and exchange knowledge.

* An auction on the contact day.
An auction is held on the contact day. The auction often features rare items, and written bids are available.
The auction lots are also listed on this website as much as possible, in the left-hand column under "Auction."

* Showpieces

A free advertising section for members of the Chess Motif Group, published both in the Schaakkoerier and on the Motif Group's website, offering the opportunity to submit offers, questions, etc., related to chess-themed collecting.

* Publishing/creating chess-themed objects
Over the years, the Chess Motif Group has published items such as a sheet of seals, a mousepad, and several postcards.

* Catalogs
Chess-related catalogs (stamps, postmarks, etc.) can be purchased through the association.
These items are available at member prices.

* Booklist
A booklist covers various collecting areas, chess history, etc.
This list is sent to members at cost price.

* Older issues of the Schaakkoerier

Members also have the option of purchasing older issues of the Schaakkoerier, the magazine of the Motief Chess Group,

from the secretary for €1.00 (some Specials have a higher price).

The Motief Chess Group also maintains contacts with its international sister associations in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg, and holds an annual joint weekend in one of these countries.
Members can also access the association's worldwide network of contacts for that one item that has been missing from their collection for so long.

In other words, anything thematically related to chess.
