He has written numerous books about chess studies and endgames.

He prefers composing Rook endgames and has often successfully developed ideas of composers from the past (such as the study quoted on inspired by N.D. Grigoriev).

He is also an International Judge for studies and was the World Champion of the WCCI 1998-2000 for studies.
