David Gurgenidze is a chess player, organizer, author and studies composer.

He has written numerous books about chess studies and endgames.

He prefers composing Rook endgames and has often successfully developed ideas of composers from the past (such as the study quoted on Wikipedia.de inspired by N.D. Grigoriev).

He is also an International Judge for studies and was the World Champion of the WCCI 1998-2000 for studies.

 

He is Grandmaster of the FIDE for chess composition since 1990.
