Mikhail Pastalaka was born on 22 May 1974 in Gorlovka, Donetsk region.

He is a Candidate master of chess.

His first mentor in composing was Peter Maly, with whom he played in the same team in regional chess competitions

and who helped Mikhail make the first steps in the composition.

Its first study (a pawn ending) arose on the basis of an analysis of its own party.

It was published in Die Schwalbe in 2000.

He is also composer of several problems of the popular genre.

In his studies, the influence of a practical chess player is felt.
